Description:
The "Londyńczycy" is a film portrait of Poles living on the Isles. The TV series tells about their problems and difficult decisions which they have to make every day; it shows them when they are most happy and when they suffer from the the most painful defeats. The "Londyńczycy" is also a feature chronicle of the latest Polish emigration. The series screenwriters Ewa Popiołek, Marek Kreutz and Robert Mąka lived among people of the Polish community in London for many weeks. They observed their everyday life with problems they face, and listened to some unusual emigrant stories. Although the series is fictional it tells stories that might happen to anyone anytime.
Some shots to the second part of the "Londyńczycy" were taken in Łódź. The production is a continuation of the plot in the first part of the series referring to Paweł's (the main hero) origins from Łódź. In the second part of his London adventures he decides to come back to his hometown with a beautiful lawyer Maria. He moves around the city looking for a proper place to establish his own business, has a meeting in the main city's street, or does shopping. All this provided an excellent opportunity for showing some places in Łódź that can be easily recognized.
At the preparation stage and when shooting the scenes at the end of September 2009, Łódź Film Commission unit was helping the film crew and supported the producer in the organization of shooting places, finding accommodation and moving around the city easily.
The effects can be seen this year, on November and December Thursdays in TVP1.
